A. How to Deal with People:
- Don’t criticize or complain.
- Give sincere appreciation.
- You can only get a person do something by making them WANT to do it.
B. How to Make People Like You:
- Develop genuine interest in other people.
- Smile.
- Remember people’s names.
- Listen! Encourage a person to talk about himself.
- Look from the other person’s point of view, and talk in terms of his interests.
- Make the other person feel important. Do it sincerely.
C. How to Persuade others:
- Do not argue with people.
- Show honor someone’s opinion. Never say, “You’re wrong.”
- If you are wrong, admit it.
- Begin friendly, not adversarial.
- Get the other person to say “Yes.”
- Let the other person do the talking.
D. How to be a Leader:
- Begin with praise and honest appreciation.
- Call attention to other people’s mistakes indirectly.
- Talk about your own mistakes, before criticizing someone else.
- Instead of giving orders, ask a question, such as “Do you think it might help if we consider trying such and such?”
- Let the other person save face.
- Praise every improvement, no matter how small.
- Give the other person a fine reputation to live up to.
- Use encouragement. Make the fault seem easy to correct.
- Make the other person happy about doing what you suggest.
