How to be Happy

In the next minute you will discover the secrets of making yourself content and positive rather than dreary and depressed.

Get busy.

There is no quicker remedy to downcast spirits as good solid work. Lose yourself in work. It could be: fixing things around the house; building a birdhouse; organizing a bake-off. Whatever it is, get busy now, and forget your troubles!

Do a favor for someone else.

You won’t find happiness by searching for it. The more you try to fill yourself with joy and pleasure, the more it may elude you. Do kindness for someone else in need.
For example, visit the sick, donate charity for needy people, volunteer in your community soup kitchen. By bringing genuine joy to others, you will feel uplifted automatically.

Get enough exercise.

You can easily exacerbate your thoughts and feelings of misery when you remain sedentary for too long. Get your blood and endorphins flowing by jumping into fitness. Just 30 minutes a day should be enough to revolutionize your mood. It may be hard to start. But once you’re hooked, you won’t want to stop.

Get enough sleep.

You cannot be very chipper when you are dead tired. Lack of good night’s sleep is one of the chief causes of anger and depression. It takes some discipline at first, but once you are in the habit of staying up no later than — let’s say 11pm — you will almost instantly feel a fresh rejuvenation every single morning. You will never want to deprive yourself of sleep again!

  1. Eat right.
We become grumpy and impatient when we are hungry. Simple healthy nourishment can provide us with stable grounding for a calm and favorable disposition. Eating too much starchy or sugary foods isn’t great for keeping the blood levels balanced long term. You can try this, for example: Fruit in the morning; proteins and vegetables in the afternoon; and carbohydrates and night.
